Dale Carnegie Will Train Volunteers Working 2008 Democratic ConventionCONTACT: Chris Lopez FOR DALE CARNEIGE: Courtney Cashin DALE CARNEGIE WILL TRAIN VOLUNTEERS WORKING 2008 DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION Denver, CO - June 4, 2008 - Dale Carnegie Training has been selected by the Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee to put volunteers through a series of training sessions in advance of this summer's Democratic National Convention. The first training sessions will be conducted Saturday, June 7, when Dale Carnegie Training works with 150-175 Volunteer Area Directors and Volunteer Captains on providing World-Class Customer Service, Creating Positive First Impressions, Effectively Communicating and Remembering Names. These volunteers have been pre-selected to serve as volunteer leaders and to participate in Saturday's training, which is not open to the public at-large. Dale Carnegie, which also provided training for volunteers at the 2004 Convention in Boston, will train an estimated 15,000 volunteers before the Democratic National Convention Aug. 25-28. "Because of the training they'll get from Dale Carnegie, our volunteers will provide first-class hospitality to the thousands of people who will be attending the convention," said Denver Host Committee President Elbra Wedgeworth. The first training sessions on June 7 will be broken into two identical sessions, running from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Colorado Convention Center. Disability etiquette will be an important aspect of volunteer training, educating volunteers on an array of disability-related considerations. Pat Going, who works with the Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center, will assist Dale Carnegie Training to address issues such as communication and transportation for the disabled community, among other topics. Volunteer training will also focus on the Host Committee's efforts to green its various hospitality events. Volunteers will be called upon to help direct visitors along the walking and bicycle paths, assist with resource recovery and be ambassadors of the green message stressed by the Host Committee. Headquartered in New York, Dale Carnegie Training was founded in 1912 and has conducted training programs in all 50 states and more than 75 countries. With close to 3,000 instructors, Dale Carnegie Training offers programs in 25 different languages and has trained approximately 7 million people worldwide.
